Mulberry Garden Project update

The Trust is delighted to report that the Mulberry Garden Project at Hogarth’s House has been awarded £25,000 from Hounslow’s Community Infrastructure Levy grants fund and a further £25,000 from the Council Leader’s Green Fund. This fantastic news means that our fund-raising target is now down to about £135,000 to reach the £1.75m total.

The project urgently needs a sugar daddy or two. Working with the Hounslow Council grants team the Trust has been involved in 29 grant applic-ations since the summer of 2016. More funding bids are in the pipeline and we hope to experiment with crowd-funding for specific elements of the project later in 2018.

For many reasons, the programme is running rather later than planned. However, the contractor will shortly be appointed to construct the new learning studio, glasshouse and volunteers’ bothy and lay out the ‘exhibition garden’ at the House. Work is also due on repairs to the cracks in the Grade I Listed structure which occurred during building work on the housing estate next door, leading to the upper floors of the House being closed to visitors for some time. At present the bare garden is the sadhttp://williamhogarthtrust.org.uk/wp-admin/post.php?post=1560&action=edit#visibilitydest sight, but the transformation will be worth watching over the next 12 months or so!
