In quite a coup for a modest historic house, the current special exhibition shows a fine collection of prints by Dame Paula Rego, coinciding with her exhxibition of paintings at Tate Britain. She was born in Portugal in 1935 and now lives in London. She is recognised as one of the most significant artists of her time, whose extraordinary imaginative power has played a key role in redefining the possibilities of figurative art. She has turned to folk tales and nursery rhymes for her subjects, as well as to stories from her native Portugal and the injustices of sexual politics, which she inter-prets with a unique perspective. Dame Paula Rego has often looked to Hogarth for her inspiration and collects his prints.<\/p>\n

Paula Rego at Hogarth’s House<\/strong>\u00a0closes 28 November and includes both her\u00a0After Hogarth<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0series and the never before exhibited\u00a0Wine<\/strong><\/em> series inspired by Hogarth’s Beer Street and Gin Lane, which she has donated for the collection at Hogarth’s House.<\/p>\n
