Hogarth’s House Open Garden event 9/10 June 2012

Hogarth’s House is taking part for the first time in the London Parks & Gardens Trust’s Open Garden Squares Weekend The garden was originally a walled orchard and contains a mulberry tree which may be older than the House. It will be open as usual between 12 noon and 5pm. On Saturday at 2.30pm Val Bott will talk about her research on the garden for the recent redisplay of the House and her study of 18th century Chiswick nursery gardeners. On Sunday, students from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art will put on performances at 3pm and 4pm. (Alas, the students cancelled on the Friday in case the damp damaged their voices – very disappointing when they could have sung indoors . . .)

The  gardens at Sutton Court, Emery Walker’s House and the walled garden at Chiswick House  will also be open on Sunday afternoon 2-5pm. Tickets at £12,  giving admission to the whole weekend of open gardens, can be purchased online at www.opensquares.eventbrite.co.uk
