“Your Self”, until 1 March
The final element of the 250th commemoration of Hogarth’s death is now on at Hogarth’s House. Following the enormously successful exhibition of self-portraits, The Small Self, which was for invited contributors, an open exhibition of self-portraits is now on show until 1 March. A generous grant, awarded to the WHT by the John Paul Getty Junior Trust, supported the 250th anniversary events programme. It made possible four self-portrait workshops designed to inspire and encourage potential contributors to the current show. Four different practicising artists ran sessions at Hogarth’s House in December, and some artists’ materials were available for participants.
The exhibition is open every day except Mondays, 12 noon to 5pm, admission free. A number of Hounslow Borough residents are included in the exhibition – do go along, you may find friends and neighbours on the wall! And the elegant illustrated catalogue for The Small Self, which includes images of every self-portrait shown, is now on sale at the House at the bargain price of £3.
