Celebrating 20 Years!

Our Trust was registered with the Charity Commission in 2002, so 2022 marks our 20th anniversary. We are proud of our achievements during that time, and these are listed below!

  • Launch of new charity, 2002, with donation of $10,000 from Hockney for High Road statue
  • Supporting Brentford & Chiswick LHS Local History month exhibitions at Hogarth’s House: Hogarth’s Chiswick, 2002 and Chiswick’s Pictures, 2003
  • Celebration of Centenary of the house opening as a museum, funded by £10,000 from Paul Getty Jnr and small grant from Hounslow Council 2004
    • Small exhibition about Chiswick c 1904 and campaign to save house
    • Tea party with Punch & Judy for William Hogarth schoolchildren, with an actor as WH and spectacular jellies and cakes by Chrissy and Rose Blake
    • Celebration party in marquee for stakeholders, supporters and potential supporters with posh raffle of Blake print of Pug
    • Lecture on the rude bits in Hogarth, James Wisdom

  • Installation of information panel at Statue, funded by Soho House 2005
  • Acquisition of Letters Patent of 1757, conservation & showcase, grants and donations from LBH, ALM, Fullers, Friends of National Libraries 2005
  • Big Draw 2005 at the House with minuet dancers, artists etc,  and another Big Draw  event at St Nicholas 2006, run by Chrissy Blake
  • Purchase of Hogarth’s letter to Joshua Kirby £17,500 HLF & personal donors (£23,000) 2008
  • Fund-raising and oversight of refurbishment of Hogarth’s House, 2008-2011
  • Purchase of 18th century ceramics for display on loan in buffet of the House, 2011
  • Two gin tasting events and a gin/beer tasting event with Sipsmith and Fullers
  • Garrick’s urns – conservation of originals and creation of replicas for the gates, 2011-12
  • Two exhibitions HLF funded – The Brewer’s Art 2012, Chiswick’s Children 2013
  • Grant £100, for graphics in Cartoon Museum’s Hogarth’s London exhibition 2014
  • Commemoration of 250th anniversary of Hogarth’s death in 2014:

    • Small Self exhibition, celebrity portraits with art workshops
    • Your Self exhibition, portraits by participants in workshops
    • Music and readings at St Nicholas, with high quality programme, readfings by Rosalind Knight and Lars Tharp

  • In Georgian Footsteps, walking trail linking Hogarth’s House, Chiswick House and St Nicholas Church, funded by John & Ruth Howard Trust and LB Hounslow, 2018
  • Mulberry Garden 2015-2021
    • research for and development of concept for garden and learning studio
    • garden history exhibition and event to celebrate HLF grant 2015
    • fund-raising for Mulberry Garden project – 34 grant applications!
    • support from two trustees in recruitment of Learning Officer & Garden Manager
  • Crowd funding scheme to recreate the pets’ memorials for the garden, sculptor working on these 2021-22
