Don’t miss the last few days of the current special exhibition, an open show of over 40 self-portraits at Hogarth’s House, open this weekend and for a few days next week. It must come down soon to make way for the next exhibition focussing (appropriately for an election year and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the London Boroughs) upon Hogarth’s Election series of prints.

The House is open daily (except Monday) 12 noon-5pm, admission free. The beautiful catalogue of The Small Self, the last exhibition, is on sale, now at £3.

Val Bott, Chairman of the William Hogarth Trust, will be giving an illustrated talk about the garden at Hogarth’s House. This is part of the winter programme of the Brentford & Chiswick Local History Society which welcomes guests at its meetings.
As part of her work on the refurbishment of Hogarth’s House, completed in 2011, she has researched the garden from its origins in the 1680s. She has been advising Hounslow Council on a scheme for refurbishing the garden; this is the subject of a current application by for a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. If funding can be obtained for the project the aim is to complete the works by 2017.
